Can I add a unit to my existing system?
Most installed systems have been designed for the capacity at the time of installation. This does not allow for additional units to be fitted.
Small split units are independent and cannot be added to, so if you decide to extend your premises or make use of new rooms, a new or completely separate system is normally required however you may be able to use the system if you do decide to move premises.
Can smells and odours be transferred from outside in by the air conditioning unit?
No. The air inside a room is only re-cycled across the refrigerant coil within the unit.
No air transfer occurs between inside and out unless a fresh air plant is used.
Which manufacturer is best?
All air conditioning systems are designed to do the same job. However, branded manufacturers generally have a more wide ranging selection of units to select. They also offer a better build quality and if required spare parts are much more readily available.
Some types of system will be created to be more efficient because they use different technology.
We use reputable manufacturers only and would recommend that you demand a brand named product that is fitted by a highly experienced installation team.
This is because a badly installed system with the best units may still not work properly, or be as efficient as it should.
My other two quotes are cheaper than yours, why?
Always make sure you are getting the same system on both quotes i.e. cooling duty of units. By comparing like for like, you can ensure that you are correctly identify who can supply the most efficient system for the price. Where possible, obtaining previous references will also help.
While it is true that you get what you pay for, please be careful with your final choice.
Cheap installation companies will often tie you in to long term contracts. Potentially they can charge you more per site visit to reap back the savings they have offered you at the start.
If you do not agree to pay such high maintenance and servicing contract costs, it may void any warranty available from the system manufacturer.
This may mean that you get a cheap system which, if fails or breaks down, you are left with the cost of installing the replacement or repair expenses.
How often should I have my air conditioning system serviced?
Depending on the environmental conditions, certain units may not operate to their full capacity.
All units need to be serviced to maintain full operating capacity.
The same unit based at a retail store may need to be serviced up to three times a year.
Regular services help to maintain new or old air conditioning units. It can extend the life span of the unit and will help to detect early faults, which can mean our team can fix the fault before it leads to break down.
We have a range of contracts available, because we know how important it is to depend on a company you can rely on to service your air conditioning equipment.
Can I catch legionnaire's disease from air conditioning?
Legionnaire's disease is a form of pneumonia.
The bacterium, legionella pneumophilia, which causes legionnaires disease, was once known to be passed on to people through air conditioning and heating systems that use cooling water towers.
It is not possible that any employee will display symptoms of Legionnaires disease from our climate control systems. This is because the modern air conditioning systems do not use water towers.
All of the systems we install, even those for larger buildings, do not use this type of traditional cooling method.
Will air conditioning systems spread viruses and colds?
No. It is well documented that colds are caught from people and bacteria. People with a deficiency in some vitamins and minerals are susceptible to colds.
All of our air conditioning systems use a filtration system.
Portable Air Conditioning Units – Are they as powerful?
Some portable units are not officially air conditioning units that use a refrigeration cycle to cool the air, some take in the surrounding warm air and pass it through cooled water – not nearly as effective as the systems we insist on providing to our customers.
Portable units are also noisy, and in most cases must be positioned close to a window or external wall to vent the air you have just cooled.
